Restolex - Radio and Theater Ad

This was meant to be a fast script. But there is only so much you can do Sometimes, it your voice has to be fast tracked (no matter how fast you render) to meet the demands of the advertisement timeline.

E-Learning For Schools

I had requested my clients for a few samples from the e-learning projects that I had done recently. Got some time today to extract and upload here.

Education can be wonderful with modern tools. Hopefully the kids benefit. Cheers!

It's been a while...

Folks, I have been kept busy by my new baby and hardly find time to visit this space. Midst personal challenges over the year, have been rendering voice for various e-learning content for school subjects for science, maths, social and history. It has been a good experience. Hopefully, I will be able to get some samples and post it here soon.

Until then, if you have any e-learning projects and interested in leveraging my voice, please drop a note. Thank you!

E-Learning for a Mobile Field Sales application

After a good vacation break, started off the first assignment for the year 2011 with an E-Learning voice over assignment for a mobile field sales software product called Cola H2O for Motorola MC35 and Blackberry devices.

Looking forward to resume voice over for other pigeon cookware products, the coming week. :)

Dubbed for a cookware product video

Tiring but satisfying day at work. It was a good learning experience to do dubbing. This was for a home appliance cooking product from Pigeon, called Pigeon Rapido Touch induction cook-top.

First, there was this translated script that I was uncomfortable with. Once I shared my thoughts, the producer also agreed that it would make sense to make corrections on to the script, on the fly. I even called up my in-laws during a break to get the perfect Tamil translation for English words like 'Preset', 'Hotpot' and 'Turbo'. The entire process took time, but at the end of the day it was satisfying that we did the right thing.

Second, the bigger challenge was to keep the sentences and words to fit the already created demo video. Once we were done with each para, it was made sure that it was production ready with the required edits.

In the mean while, I have been connecting with a few other VOs in the industry and building my network. It's  nice to share your experience and learn from others.

E-Learning for a Life Sciences product

It was nice to do a twenty page E-Learning voice over assignment for a product from Aris Global, a life sciences company, in close to about two hours.

-- Update | 16 Dec 2010 --

Covered other modules of the same product. This time around, took more time for the twenty two pages of script. I wasn't rushing through and the results came out well.

Change Over

Decided to move away from Box.net to DropBox as the file repository, as I get a tighter grip to the direct URLs which gives me the power to choose better audio players. Did not want you visitors to wait for ample seconds for the audio to load and play. Sometimes, you never know if it is loading or not. Did not like the ambiguity.

So, switched over to Dewplayer which seems to be loading the files much faster than the Box.net player. I can see the difference for sure and have tested out on IE8, FireFox and Chrome. Let me know if you face any issues.

Working on a few podcast ideas. Stay tuned!

No more pops!

My husband hates those pops (spikes) and he came up with the idea of making a custom pop filter. Few references online and here it is! A new addition to the home studio, "The Pop Filter". It does perform the job of filtering those pops, to perfection! Home made stuff is so cool and so cheap. Got this done with a fifteen rupee embroidery frame, nylon socks material, a photo holder (used as a stand) and a twine to tie. That is all it took and of course, thirty minutes of pure fun! Thanks, to my creative hubby.

Issues with the sound card have also been fixed and have learnt a trick or two in Audacity to make effective voice recordings. So, I am hoping to make progress by creating some noise-free recordings over the week.

Regrouping Myself

Voice over courses were hard to come by, especially in Bangalore. In Mumbai and Pune, it seems to be a regular affair. I was waiting and waiting and a course never seemed to come by. Suddenly it did, from Sound Footing. I was looking forward towards a course which could rekindle my aspiration and it certainly did.

Sandeep did a great job in grouping up like minded people and taking us through an exciting journey through the nuances of VO, RJ, MC, Sound Editing and Podcasting. It seems to have done the trick for me.

Sandeep focuses and understands the strengths and weakness of each individual in the group and provides his thoughts around that. His critical views and recommendations on weak areas, really helps in improving ourselves. Thanks, Sandeep!

Tamil Ad / Narration - Pothys Sarees

Resuming to write here after such a long break. It's been some time now since I have resumed my ties with my interest and now is the time to start making some right moves.

Wanted to try something different and give an emotional touch to the original ad.
